Kicking the Moon was founded in 2001 by Ashley Carr, Magali Bancel and Max Haverkamp, three graduates from the first BA Degree in Contemporary Circus at London’s Circus Space.

In the same year they won the prestigious Jerwood Award for Circus Arts to create their first show “2 for Tea – 1 for Me”.

After a year of touring, Magali decided to pursue solo projects in France and Sweden. She remains a collaborator and performer in 2 for Tea. Just recently, she sent us 2 lovely teaspoons and a teabag from Sweden.

In 2003, Max and Ashley obtained funding from the Arts Council of England to create their new show, “second thoughts” which they have since been performing in festivals and theatres in Europe and across the world.

Both shows have been directed by Joyce Henderson from Theatre de Complicite and set to original soundtracks composed by Jean-Laurent Cayzac, who have become invaluable collaborators.
